The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), previously called The Department for International Development (DFID) prior to 2nd September 2020, leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty. They tackle the global challenges of our time including poverty and disease, mass migration, insecurity and conflict.

FCDO funds Afghanaid’s work in promoting climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and building resilient households and communities, and women's empowerment and health.

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)

In Afghanistan, Switzerland, through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is addressing three areas of intervention: 1) Rule of Law and Protection, 2) Agriculture and Natural Resource Management, and 3) Basic Education. 

SDC funds Afghanaid's work supporting rural families to better manage the natural resources on which their food security and livelihoods depend.

Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF)

The Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF), established in 2014 for swift and strategic humanitarian action in Afghanistan, is one of OCHA’s country-based pooled funds (CBPFs). 

AHF funds Afghanaid’s lifesaving work in responding to the needs of people affected by natural and manmade disasters, through the provision of emergency shelter, reconstruction of homes, emergency food and winterization assistance, and emergency multi-purpose cash transfers.

The European Union collaborates with Afghanaid on a €7.6 million large-scale development project that prioritises vulnerable groups such as women, youth, and households with disabled members, to address food insecurity, create income opportunities, and implement climate-smart agriculture techniques to rebuild rural Afghan communities facing multi-layered challenges.

Afghanaid partners with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation on the CARE project (Community Assistance: Recovery and Empowerment), comprising two components spanning two provinces. The first component focuses on earthquake relief in Herat, while the second component emphasises women's empowerment in Badakhshan. This involves offering training sessions in business development, bookkeeping, saving and loan management, business plan writing, marketing and market linkage and distributing micro-grants to support entrepreneurial endeavours for Afghan women.

They are a faith-based British international charity that supports people who are survivors of natural disasters or conflict, or facing from poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, discrimination, homelessness, debt, unemployment, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities. Muslim Aid funds Afghanaid’s life saving winterisation and earthquake response programmes, supporting families in some of Afghanistan’s most underserved regions during crises with emergency supplies.
