School Fundraising

Student fundraisers have the power to change Afghan lives, and your support has never been more vital. Our guides will give you all the tips and tricks you'll need to plan a perfect fundraiser to support people in Afghanistan, all whilst having huge amounts of fun along the way.

Our School Guide is a great introduction to the world of FUN(draising) for any young enthusiasts, packed with exciting materials for you to customise with your classmates! Also, be sure to check out our School Recipe Book for exciting, classroom-friendly Afghan recipes which are perfect for cooking classes or the next school bake sale!

Whether you're a society, sports club, RAG, or individual, our University Guide provides plenty of info to help any student get inspired. From bucketing to winter formals, your fundraising will play a crucial role in enabling us to reach vulnerable families, all whilst allowing you to develop and gain invaluable skills for your future career.

Looking to educate your class about Afghanistan, its geography, history or the current humanitarian crisis in the country? Facilitating conversations with children at all ages about the situation in Afghanistan, and introducing them to our work, can be an inspiring way to build empathy and empower pupils to make a positive impact.

Our Afghanistan Fact Sheet is a great resource to use in your classroom to introduce classes of all ages to Afghanistan, and the specific challenges Afghan families currently face:

Download our Fact Sheet!

School life is also a fantastic place to introduce classes to new cultures, and aids in increasing compassion, celebrating diversity and improving children’s social skills. By creating these dialogues and learning about cultures different to our own, we can celebrate our global community. Afghanistan has a rich and diverse history, with delicious food, beautiful art and longstanding cultural traditions. Take a look at our Afghan Culture page, and decide which element of Afghan culture to immerse your class in today!

For older students, engaging with literature on Afghanistan can be an easy way to incorporate Afghanistan into English and History classes. Given the compelling storytelling of authors such as Khaled Hosseni, it can be difficult to envisage a more powerful way to introduce Afghanistan to your class. Help us celebrate fantastic literature about or from Afghanistan, and spread the word about the challenges faced by people in Afghanistan, as well as the vital role of literacy skills in ending poverty.

Get Inspired

Whether you are big or small, you have the power to make change happen. Over the past few years, some incredible children have given their all in fundraising to support children in Afghanistan. Why not emulate their triumphs in setting up a similar charity fundraiser?

  • Fonzie & Rocco climbed the ten highest peaks of the North Yorkshire Moors (equivalent to the height of Afghanistan’s tallest mountain), raising a phenomenal amount to support vulnerable children and their families. Just the year before, Fonzie (five years old at the time) also completed a triathlon for Afghanaid!

School Fundraisers

There are many exciting ways you can raise money for Afghan children and their families at your school.

  • Bake sale: whip up some tasty Afghan treats and sell them at your school, using recipes from our very own recipe book!
  • Sports Day: why not organise a charity cricket match, celebrating Afghanistan’s favourite sport.
  • Non-uniform day: green is the colour of Afghanaid, and often is a colour used to represent prosperity throughout Afghanistan. Why not host a non-uniform day, encouraging pupils to add a hint of green to their outfits?
