We're so pleased to announce that, for the second year running, we are a finalist in the Smiley Charity Film Awards.
We're so pleased that Be The Light, a film about community-led climate action in Afghanistan that we are incredibly proud of, has been named a finalist amongst such a fantastic shortlist of organisations.
- Charles Davy, Afghanaid's Managing Director

"The climate crisis is making every aspect of life harder for Afghan people, and sustained global action is urgently needed to ensure these communities already bearing the consequences of the warming planet can survive — and thrive. Our film captures just a small part of the impactful climate action work that can and should be done in Afghanistan, spearheaded by local people and with the support of our donors. Platforms like the Smiley Charity Film Awards help amplify Afghan voices, ensuring their stories of strength and determination inspire meaningful change. As the world’s focus shifts, we must not forget Afghanistan."

Being selected as a finalist highlights our film as one of the best in cause-driven storytelling, with each shortlisted piece presenting a unique narrative that embodies philanthropy and social impact. We're thrilled that Afghanaid and the resilient communities we support will be showcased at the upcoming awards, recognized by both the BFI and IMDb.
